Wilkinson Builders are leading the way in energy efficient building techniques and detailing, our aim being to construct carbon neutral housing, along with Passivhaus standard air tightness levels.

We only build energy efficient homes and have been for 18 years, our first major project being Bennetts Bungalow in Essex - still one of the best insulated houses around. We now install microgeneration systems on our ecohouses such as Photovoltaic arrays and micro windturbines, if the site is suitable. We also think solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems have to be on all our projects, there is no excuse to not use these energy saving systems.

We build our timber frames mainly from Masonite and Glulam beams so a good size cavity is created for excellent insulation. Solid timber is really limited to around 200mm depth - we prefer to build at 250mm as a minimum in walls. Our own design houses are open planned, modern spaces with vaulted ceilings to suit the way we life in the 21st century.
